Van Houtte is an iconic Canadian coffee brand with a heritage dating back to 1919. It was founded by Albert-Louis Van Houtte, a French immigrant who opened a specialty grocery store in Montreal, Quebec. The brand became renowned for its European single-batch roasting process, a tradition that continues to define its gourmet coffee profile today.

Ownership of the brand transitioned from the Van Houtte family to private equity in 2007 and was subsequently acquired by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (now Keurig Dr Pepper) in 2010. While the cafe-bistro business was sold to MTY Food Group in 2014, Keurig Dr Pepper retained full control of the Van Houtte brand name, its wholesale coffee business, and its associated manufacturing.

As of 2026, Van Houtte remains a cornerstone of the Keurig Dr Pepper portfolio. Its roasting operations and beverage packaging plants are primarily located in Montreal, Quebec, ensuring the brand maintains its authentic Canadian roots while benefiting from a global distribution network.
