Colman's Double Superfine Mustard Powder

Colman's is one of Britain’s most iconic food brands, with a heritage dating back to 1814 when Jeremiah Colman began milling mustard in Norfolk. For over 160 years, the brand was synonymous with its production site at Carrow in Norwich. However, following a significant restructuring by its owner, Unilever, production moved away from the historic Norwich factory in 2020.

Today, the manufacturing process is split across different locations to maintain its high standards. The essential 'Double Superfine' mustard flour is still produced in Norfolk at a state-of-the-art mill run by Condimentum, a consortium of local growers, ensuring the brand maintains its deep-rooted connection to its original home. Final packaging and the production of other mustard formats now take place at Unilever’s facilities in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and in Germany. Ownership of the brand passed from the original family business to Reckitt & Colman in 1938, and eventually to the global consumer goods giant Unilever in 1995.
