Philips-branded lighting products are currently managed and manufactured by Signify N.V., a world leader in lighting technology. The brand's history began in 1891 when Gerard and Frederik Philips founded the company in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, originally focusing on carbon-filament lamps. For over a century, Philips Lighting remained a core division of the Dutch conglomerate Royal Philips.

In 2016, as part of a strategic shift to focus on health technology, Royal Philips spun off its lighting division into a separate company named Philips Lighting N.V., which was then rebranded to Signify in 2018. Under a long-term licensing agreement, Signify continues to use the prestigious Philips brand for its lamps and luminaires portfolio. While the brand remains Dutch in heritage and headquarters, manufacturing is distributed globally, with a significant portion of LED production occurring in China, alongside facilities in Europe and other regions to serve local markets.
