Marluvas is a leading Brazilian manufacturer specializing in safety footwear and professional protective equipment (PPE). Founded in 1972 by Antonio Marcelo Arruda in Dores de Campos, Minas Gerais, the company originally began as a small producer of leather gloves (the name 'Marluvas' is a portmanteau of the founder's name, Marcelo, and 'luvas', the Portuguese word for gloves). Over the decades, it shifted its primary focus to safety shoes and boots, becoming one of the most recognized brands in South America.

Today, Marluvas operates multiple manufacturing units across Brazil, producing over 50,000 pairs of shoes daily. The company remains a family-owned enterprise under the leadership of its founder. While its core manufacturing is based in Brazil, it has established strategic global partnerships, such as a distribution and technology alliance with the American firm MCR Safety, to expand its product offerings into high-tech hand protection while maintaining its dominant position in the Brazilian safety shoe market.
