Sharp Microwave Oven (20L 800W)

Sharp is a historic Japanese electronics brand founded in 1912 by Tokuji Hayakawa. The company gained its name from the 'Ever-Sharp' mechanical pencil, one of its early hit products. Over the decades, Sharp evolved into a global leader in liquid crystal display (LCD) technology and a wide range of home appliances, including being a pioneer in the mass production of microwave ovens since the 1960s.

Today, Sharp's manufacturing is a global operation. While high-end built-in models and microwave drawers are notably produced at Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA) in Memphis, Tennessee, many of their countertop units like the 20L model shown are manufactured in factories across Thailand and China. In Europe, Sharp has a strategic partnership with Vestel to manufacture and distribute certain white goods, further diversifying its production base.

In 2016, Sharp Corporation underwent a major structural change when the Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn) acquired a controlling stake in the company. As of 2026, Sharp continues to operate as a key subsidiary within the Foxconn group, maintaining its Japanese heritage and headquarters in Osaka while leveraging Foxconn's massive global supply chain and manufacturing scale.
