The brand has Spanish origins, having been established in 1963 as a joint venture between the Spanish conglomerate Agrolimen and the American company Ralston Purina (originally named Gallina Blanca Purina). Following major shifts in the global pet food market in the early 2000s—including the merger of Ralston Purina with Nestlé—Agrolimen acquired full control and rebranded the entity as Affinity Petcare.
