Founded in 1982 by Bernard Lengellé, the brand initially gained popularity with its authentic Marseille soaps before expanding into a full range of shower gels, shampoos, and skincare products. Its branding is deeply rooted in the sunny, Mediterranean lifestyle, utilizing ingredients like lavender, honey, and almond.

Originally a local venture, the brand was acquired by Laboratoires Vendôme in 1985 and subsequently by Johnson & Johnson in 2006. In 2023, following the corporate spinoff of Johnson & Johnson’s consumer health division, the brand became part of the Kenvue portfolio. As of 2026, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of the American company Kimberly-Clark, which acquired Kenvue in a landmark merger. Despite these changes in corporate ownership, the product shown continues to be manufactured in France at specialized facilities in Val-de-Reuil, maintaining its local industrial ties.
