Depon is a prominent pharmaceutical brand widely recognized in Greece and southeastern Europe for its pain-relief and antipyretic properties. Originally developed by the Bristol Myers Squibb company, it has become a household name specifically for paracetamol-based treatments. This 'Cold & Flu' variant typically combines paracetamol with chlorphenamine to address respiratory symptoms.
While the brand has a deep-rooted history in the Greek market, its ownership transitioned following an international acquisition. In 2019, the French pharmaceutical group UPSA (Union de Pharmacologie Scientifique Appliquée) was acquired from Bristol Myers Squibb by Taisho Pharmaceutical, a major Japanese company. Despite the Japanese ownership, the primary manufacturing and distribution operations for Depon, under the UPSA banner, remain concentrated in France, particularly at their facilities in Agen.
