The brand's origin dates back to 1869 when medical student Karl Henn discovered the mineral spring in Radenci, Slovenia. The water, marketed under the name Kraljevi Vrelec (King's Spring), gained rapid popularity across the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was even served at the imperial court in Vienna and the Vatican.

In terms of ownership, the brand underwent a significant transition in 2015 when it was acquired by the Kofola Group (Kofola ČeskoSlovensko a.s.), a major Czech-based beverage company. Under Kofola's stewardship, Radenska remains the leading name in the Adriatic region for mineral water, while being part of a larger portfolio of central European beverage brands. The ultimate owner is based in the Czech Republic, managing Radenska as a key subsidiary for their expansion into southern European markets.
