Mason's Dog Oil massage balm

Mason's Dog Oil is a heritage massage balm originally created in the 1920s in Dukinfield, Cheshire. Despite its name, which can be traced back to its early use by greyhound trainers to soothe racing dogs, the product is primarily used by humans to help with joint and muscle pain and to act as an anti-chafing agent. The name was adopted after dog trainers realized the balm they applied to the animals also eased their own aches.

The product's formulation has remained consistent for over a century, consisting of a simple blend of rapeseed oil and petroleum jelly. It is manufactured in England, specifically associated with Mason's Products located in Runcorn. Ownership of the brand was traditionally held by the Mason and Carmichael families until 2019, when it was acquired by Wise Pharmacies Ltd, a UK-based pharmaceutical group that continues to manage and distribute the brand.
