Launched in 2019, the product was born from a unique partnership between Ölgerðin Egill Skallagrímsson, Iceland's oldest and largest beverage producer, and FEEL Iceland, a biotech start-up specializing in marine collagen. The beverage is distinguished by its use of 5.9 grams of high-quality marine collagen sourced from wild-caught Arctic fish, combined with natural caffeine and essential B vitamins.

The manufacturing process takes place entirely in Iceland, utilizing the country's famously pure water and green energy sources. COLLAB quickly disrupted the domestic market, surpassing global giants like Coca-Cola in popularity within its category. While the brand originated as a collaborative effort, it is primarily managed and produced by the Ölgerðin group, which has since established COLLAB Inc. to facilitate the brand's international expansion into markets like Sweden and beyond.
