Pantene is one of the world's most recognized hair care brands, originally founded in Switzerland in 1945 by the pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche. The name 'Pantene' is derived from panthenol, a key ingredient discovered during WWII. The brand's revolutionary 'Pro-V' (Pro-Vitamin B5) formula became its signature identity, helping it transition from a premium European local brand to a global powerhouse.
In 1985, Pantene was acquired by Procter & Gamble (P&G), an American multinational consumer goods corporation. Since then, P&G has expanded the brand's reach to over 100 countries. Manufacturing is distributed globally across several major facilities to serve regional markets; for Europe, many products are produced in France, Romania, or Germany. The brand remains a core asset in P&G's Beauty segment, focusing on scientific innovation in hair health.
