The brand's history is steeped in Scottish tradition, located in Blackford, Perthshire, on a site that has brewing and distilling roots dating back to 1488 when King James IV of Scotland stopped by to purchase beer.

The modern distillery was established in 1949 and has undergone several changes in ownership. Since 2011, it has Been part of the independent, family-owned group Picard Vins & Spiritueux based in France. Every stage of the production process—from distilling to maturation and bottling—takes place within Scotland, maintaining its protected status as an authentic Scotch Whisky.
