The brand's history began in 1953 in a laboratory at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, where Dr. Vernon Krieble developed unique 'anaerobic' adhesives that cured in the absence of air.

While it started as an American innovation by the American Sealants Company, it was eventually acquired by the German multinational Henkel in 1997.
