Sennheiser HD series headphones

Sennheiser is a prestigious German brand founded in 1945 by Fritz Sennheiser. Known for its high-fidelity audio equipment, the brand has historically roots in the town of Wedemark near Hanover. For decades, it remained a family-owned business specializing in microphones and headphones.

In 2022, Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG completed a significant transition by selling its consumer electronics division (which includes consumer headphones) to Sonova Holding AG, a Swiss-based medical audio solutions company. While Sennheiser continues to manufacture professional audio equipment independently in Germany and Romania, the consumer-facing headphone products depicted here are now owned and operated by Sonova under a permanent brand license agreement. Manufacturing for these consumer products is largely centralized in specialized facilities in China to remain competitive, though high-end audiophile models often retain European production origins.
