Calvé is a historic food brand with deep European roots, particularly in the Netherlands and France. It was founded in 1898 through the merger of two companies: the Dutch 'Nederlandsche Oliefabriek' (NOF) and the French 'Etablissements Calvé-Delft'. The brand originally became famous for its salad oils and peanut butter, eventually becoming a staple in European kitchens for its mayonnaise, ketchups, and diverse range of dressings.

In 1928, Calvé was acquired by Margarine Unie, which merged with Lever Brothers in 1930 to form the global consumer goods giant Unilever. Today, Calvé remains a major brand within Unilever's Nutrition division. While it is most prominent in the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, its products are manufactured across several international sites to serve local markets, often utilizing Unilever's extensive European supply chain network.
