Wasa is the world's largest producer of crispbread, a brand that has become synonymous with healthy, crunchy rye-based snacks. Founded in 1919 by Karl Edvard Lundström in Skellefteå, Sweden, the company originally operated under the name 'AB Skellefteå Spisbrödsfabrik' before adopting the 'Wasa' name in honor of the Swedish King Gustav Vasa. The brand is celebrated for its traditional recipes, such as the Vollkorn Roggen (Whole Grain Rye) shown here, which emphasizes high fiber and simple, natural ingredients.

While the brand's roots are firmly planted in Swedish soil, its manufacturing operations expanded significantly over the decades to meet international demand. Today, production is primarily centered in Filipstad, Sweden, and Celle, Germany. Since 1999, Wasa has been part of the Barilla Group, an Italian multinational food company. Under Barilla's ownership, Wasa has maintained its Nordic identity while benefiting from a global distribution network and carbon-neutral certification for its production processes.
