The Yankie Bar is a classic Danish chocolate bar introduced in 1946 by Toms International. It was created to cater to American soldiers stationed in Germany after World War II, who missed the taste of American candy bars. The bar features a combination of caramel, nougat, and milk chocolate, and is similar to the European version of the Mars Bar. The name 'Yankie' was intentionally misspelled to avoid mispronunciation in Denmark. Over the years, the Yankie Bar has become a beloved treat in Denmark, with variations such as Yankie Bar Lakrids (liquorice), Yankie Bar Mandel (almond), and Yankie Bar Orange. In 2017, Toms International expanded the Yankie Bar line to include Yankie Almond, which incorporates chopped, roasted almonds into the original recipe. Toms International continues to produce and sell the Yankie Bar, maintaining its status as the oldest chocolate bar in Denmark. (brands.tomsgroup.com)
