About REWE Beste Wahl
What is REWE Beste Wahl?
REWE Beste Wahl is a REWE private-label brand positioned in the normal or middle price segment. REWE presents the range as a broad selection of everyday products made with selected production partners. REWE’s own brand page lists more than 1,300 REWE Beste Wahl products. The range includes food, drinks, fresh products and household goods. REWE Beste Wahl is one of several private-label brands developed by REWE. Other REWE private-label brands named by REWE include ja!, REWE Bio, REWE Regional, REWE frei von and REWE Feine Welt. REWE Beste Wahl is therefore separate from REWE’s discount-oriented ja! range, organic REWE Bio products and premium-positioned REWE Feine Welt products. The German name can be understood in English as “REWE Best Choice” or “REWE Best Selection.” REWE continues to use the German name on its packaging and product pages. The name does not identify a separate independent manufacturer.
Who owns REWE Beste Wahl?
REWE Beste Wahl is ultimately owned by REWE-Zentralfinanz eG, according to Made O’Meter’s ownership data verified on 13 September 2026. The ownership chain is REWE Beste Wahl, REWE Markt GmbH, REWE-Zentral AG and REWE-Zentralfinanz eG. REWE-Zentralfinanz eG is a cooperative. The ownership structure places REWE Beste Wahl within the REWE corporate group rather than under an independent food manufacturer. REWE Markt GmbH is the operating company directly connected to the REWE retail brand in the ownership chain supplied for REWE Beste Wahl. REWE’s official brand presentation identifies REWE Beste Wahl as a REWE brand. The official REWE website is rewe.de. REWE’s corporate history identifies the wider REWE organisation as part of the structure established in 1927.
Where does REWE Beste Wahl come from?
REWE Beste Wahl originates in Germany and is associated with the German REWE retail organisation headquartered in Cologne. REWE was founded in Cologne in 1927 as the Revisionsverband der Westkauf-Genossenschaften. The available corporate history documents REWE’s founding in 1927, but does not identify a specific person or company as the creator of REWE Beste Wahl. It also does not establish the year in which REWE Beste Wahl was first introduced. The documented history therefore supports the brand’s German origin and its connection to REWE, but not a named founder or launch date for the individual private label. REWE describes REWE Beste Wahl as one of the private-label ranges developed alongside other REWE own brands. The REWE Group is present in 19 European countries. That corporate presence does not establish that REWE Beste Wahl products are sold in all 19 countries.
What products does REWE Beste Wahl make?
REWE Beste Wahl offers a wide range of everyday food, drinks, fresh products and household goods. Examples include cakes, cookies, tortillas, wraps, lasagne, ice cream, olive oil, mineral water, frozen chips, pretzel products, burger patties and plant-based minced alternatives. REWE’s online listings include REWE Beste Wahl High Protein Wraps, mineral water in still and classic varieties, Laugenbrezeln, fruit juice, dairy products, vegetables, tomatoes and household paper products. Product availability and exact recipes can vary by market and over time. The plant-based range includes vegan burger patties, plant-based schnitzels, mince based on pea protein, meat-free sliced products, plant-based pizzas, dairy alternatives, hummus, spreads and ice cream. REWE’s plant-based product information also describes products based on soy protein, pea protein, rice, wheat, almond and oat ingredients. In 2026, REWE introduced the product-line name REWE Beste Wahl Pflanzlich for its plant-based REWE Beste Wahl products. The launch included REWE Beste Wahl Pflanzlich Barista Hafer Zero, an oat drink made with oats from Germany and without sugar.
How are REWE Beste Wahl products made?
REWE Beste Wahl products are manufactured by a network of external suppliers rather than in one single REWE-owned factory. REWE states that the products are made with selected production businesses using specified ingredients and recipes. Frosta manufactures at least one REWE Beste Wahl product, REWE Beste Wahl Bio Gemüsepfanne mediterran. This shows that at least part of the range is produced by established food manufacturers outside the REWE retail organisation. The available product information also identifies suppliers for individual products. For example, REWE Beste Wahl Premium Burger Patties Vegan lists Kupfer Innovative Food GmbH & Co. KG in Heilsbronn, Germany, while REWE Beste Wahl Hack vegan lists pure vood GmbH in Hamburg, Germany. These product-level supplier details do not mean that either supplier manufactures the entire REWE Beste Wahl range. The ingredients depend on the product. The vegan burger patties listed by REWE use water, soy protein, rapeseed oil, potato starch, spices and other ingredients. The vegan mince listed by REWE uses pea protein, coconut fat, rapeseed oil, flavourings and stabilisers. Individual packaging and product pages provide the applicable ingredients and allergen information.
What does REWE Beste Wahl high protein ice cream contain?
REWE Beste Wahl high protein ice cream is an ice-cream product marketed around a higher protein content, but the exact ingredients and nutrition depend on the specific flavour and product version. The product name alone does not establish a single recipe for all REWE Beste Wahl ice cream products. REWE’s range also includes plant-based ice cream based on almond or oat ingredients and plant-based stick ice cream containing pea protein. These products are distinct from conventional dairy-based ice cream and from any specific high-protein ice cream recipe. Shoppers checking allergens, protein content, sugar and energy values should use the nutrition panel and ingredient list for the exact tub, bar or flavour. REWE product pages can change as products are reformulated or replaced.
How does REWE Beste Wahl compare with other REWE brands?
REWE Beste Wahl occupies the normal or middle price segment among REWE’s private-label brands. REWE lists ja!, REWE Bio, REWE Regional, REWE frei von and REWE Feine Welt as other private-label brands developed by the group. The ranges serve different positioning and product purposes. ja! is a separate REWE private label, while REWE Bio focuses on organic products and REWE Feine Welt represents a premium-oriented range. REWE Beste Wahl covers a broad selection of standard everyday products and also includes organic, vegan and high-protein products in selected categories. REWE’s published product information does not provide a separate market-share figure or sales total for REWE Beste Wahl. The available information therefore supports a description of the range and its price positioning, but not a quantified ranking against competing private labels.
Where is REWE Beste Wahl sold?
REWE Beste Wahl products are sold through REWE’s retail and digital shopping channels in Germany. REWE’s online shop lists products under the REWE Beste Wahl name, including food, drinks and household products. Some products are also available through REWE delivery and collection services. REWE specifically states that its plant-based products can be ordered through the REWE delivery and pickup service. The REWE Group operates in 19 European countries. The available information does not establish the countries in which REWE Beste Wahl products themselves are sold, so the brand’s product distribution should not be equated with the group’s full geographic presence.
Has REWE Beste Wahl changed ownership or been recalled?
REWE Beste Wahl is currently presented as a REWE brand within the REWE Group ownership structure. The documented ownership chain runs through REWE Markt GmbH and REWE-Zentral AG to REWE-Zentralfinanz eG. No documented change of ownership or acquisition price is associated with REWE Beste Wahl in the available corporate history. The available information also does not identify a recall or regulatory action specifically concerning REWE Beste Wahl. Product safety and regulatory information can apply to individual products rather than to an entire private-label range. Shoppers should therefore check the product packaging and official notices for the exact product and batch concerned.
